Onjuku Sand Skiing Area
The 'charm point' of this dune bowl is that it sits right beside the famous Onjuku surfing beach with its clean sand, so there is plenty to enjoy here besides sandboarding. There are several medium hills, all with different riding experiences to offer. The angles of the slopes are different so everyone from beginners to advanced riders can have a great time. One slope also provides some natural jumps.
From Tokyo by car (three routes):
Higashi-Kanto Expressway – Keiyo Road – Togane Toll Road (Omiya IC) – Sotobo Toll Road – National Route 128
Higashi-Kanto Expressway – Keiyo Road – Tateyama Expressway (Ichihara IC) – National Route 297 (via Otaki Town)
Higashi-Kanto Expressway – Keiyo Road (Soga IC) – Chiba–Mobara Prefectural Road – National Route 128
Once inside Onjuku town, head for the coastal road and turn inland, with the sea at your back, into the small lane at Iwata fishing port, midway between Iwawada swimming beach and the Konamizuki coast. It is very hard to find and difficult to explain, so we have provided a map: Sunayama Park, marked with a red mark (a red square) on the map, is the sand ski area.
