Air Fly Event
On 21 July 2000, the Air Fly competition was held at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo. Ten thousand snowboard fans packed a venue built with artificial snow in the middle of the Tokyo summer, cheering the riders' spectacular jumps.
Sand Sports Japan took part as a sponsor of the event, running a booth by the venue entrance to promote sandboarding. For most of the snowboarders there it was the first time they had ever seen or heard of sandboarding, and they crowded around the sandboarding videos playing at our booth.
