Welcome to Sand Sports Japan

Japan is a country offering great conditions for pretty much every sport imaginable. Streets for skateboarding, incredible mountains for skiing and snowboarding, decent waves for surfing and — of course — wicked dunes for sandboarding.

Sand Sports Japan offers rentals and sales of high quality sandboarding goods including boards, bindings, wax, apparel and accessories. We also offer guided sandboarding tours and instructional courses for beginners.

Q Is there an entrance fee?
A No — there is no entrance fee at all.
Q Is it different from snowboarding?
A It is similar, but the riding style and the sense of speed are different.
Q How much does it cost to start?
A A board and bindings cost ¥34,800 as a set (wax ¥350).

We cover where you can ride in Japan, the world sandboarding scene and its competitions. Our director is the person who first brought sandboarding to Japan in 1996, and has appeared widely in newspapers, magazines and on television. We have been selling and renting sandboards in Japan for over 20 years.

Sandboarding has become a standard activity in Tottori, and is now an officially recognised sport of Tottori City. Do give it a try.

Tottori City information

Three sessions a day (about 2 hours each) — check-in opens 30 minutes before each session.
Early March – late September: 9:30–11:30, 13:00–15:00, 16:00–18:00
October – late December: 9:30–11:30, 12:30–14:30, 15:00–17:00

Season: early March – late December (open daily; cancelled in bad weather)

Price: ¥3,500 (incl. tax, rental and insurance)

Kicker (jump ramp)
Our popular kicker rental — a skateboard jump ramp — can now be delivered anywhere in Japan by courier.
Shipping starts from ¥1,790 each way, and if you are sandboarding, jumping is the best part of it.
